Die Legende vom Breitwieser Schani
Tells the story of burglar king Johann Breitwieser, who on the first of April 1919 was »mortally arrested« by police in St. Andrä-Wördern, a little town not too far from Vienna. In roughly two hours a large ensemble (30 artists) perform songs about the life and death of this »Robin Hood of Vienna«.
The music is by Gilbert Handler, lyrics by Peter Danzinger. I am part of the band, playing bouzouki and bodhrán.
This is project is very close to my heart, since I am related to the one featured in the songs on my father's side. For this reason I have a website on the net offering further information at breitwieserschani.at.
Videos of the first night and two more in 2024 can be found on Sophia Schindler's YouTube channel. The next performance is planned for May 2026.

Blue Monday
Cooperation on »Die Legende vom Breitwieser Schani« led to the chance of playing bodhrán for film music.
Short film »Blue Monday« by director Petra Zöpnek from 2024 is about two young girl hackers. Sound Design again by Gilbert Handler.
Appearing in festivals around the world the film has won several prizes.
